They loved spending evenings in the games room – a mix of round the world table tennis and pool.
The kids also loved playing badminton in the walled garden and forty forty in the fields.
The mums enjoyed their morning yoga in the walled garden too.
It’s a great location to get to so many beaches – Mothecombe (stunning beach & estuary), Blackpool Sands, Salcombe, Bantham & Bigbury – both great for learning to surf. And we also discovered the kayaking on the River Dart from Stoke Gabriel (keen to get back to try the 10 man boat).
Definitely worth a visit to Ben’s Farm Shop for meat and to Salcombe or Totnes for shopping (but be warned the shops shut early!)
We found so many great restaurants – the great music and simple BBQ at School House, Mothecombe was great fun; The Oyster Shack at Bigbury was a feast of fantastic seafood – amazing oysters!
Jenny is a wonderful host, nothing was too much in terms of making us feel at home – but at the same time giving us our privacy.
It was a fabulous house for our big group of adults and kids – we would definitely recommend it.
We rented the Big Barn to celebrate a big birthday with family and friends and it was the perfect setting.
Our stay exceeded all expectations. The Barn is as wonderful as it looks – a very well resourced kitchen, comfortable and stylish throughout, lovely bedrooms and bathrooms and very comfortable beds. It was spotlessly clean too.
We appreciated all of the attention given to everything – sharp knives in the kitchen, coffee makers, lemon squeezers, everything you might need – including all of the recycling bins provided. It was great having the outdoor space, terrace and games room too. The garden and driveway are all fenced in so we didn’t have to worry about our dog running around outside.
Jenny was a wonderful host pre and during our stay, answering our questions and providing information regarding local shops, beaches and restaurants so that we could make plans before we arrived. Driving instructions were very helpful too. Jenny took charge of our food delivery before we arrived which was also very kind.
Thank you again for everything you did to make our stay so wonderful and full of many happy memories.

The Barn was a wonderful find, a stunning and imaginative conversion, full of space and light, but with plenty of privacy too.
Luxurious throughout, it is very evidently looked after with great pride by its owners. The surrounding rolling farmland is simply gorgeous, deep, secretive valleys and lush woodland. All utterly peaceful.
Our hosts were responsive and attentive, keen to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We had a lovely week and would return without hesitation.
We have stayed at the Barn for many years and can only praise the experience in every way. It’s so peaceful and secluded you will never enjoy a better night’s sleep.

We have enjoyed a most wonderful week at The Barn with our adult children and their partners. It was truly amazing, everything from the well equipped kitchen, large open plan living area, the most comfortable beds and a great play barn.
The setting was perfect, picturesque and peaceful and we enjoyed exploring the farm with our dog every morning before breakfast .
Jenny is the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble. She sent recommendations for walks, beaches, restaurants and caterers before our stay so we could book in advance. We had the wonderful Cressy (hello@wildgoosekitchen.com)to cook for us one evening, the food was outstanding, only wish she could come to us in the midlands but sadly I think it is a bit far!
We have already recommended it to friends. We would go back without hesitation. If you decide to book I hope you enjoy The Barn as much as we did.
I cannot praise the Barn, or its delightful owner, Jenny, highly enough. I can honestly say that the Barn is ‘right up there’ with more of the feel of a boutique hotel, due to its relaxed, and massive living spaces and amazingly large en-suite bedrooms – FOUR of them! – along with another beautiful ‘Crows Nest’ first floor room, which slept 3 (probably, 4), comfortably.
With a beautiful and very well equipped kitchen, fantastic 12 (14?) seater dining table, and very comfortable lounge area, there was ample space for everyone to relax and chill …and all with wonderfully high quality furnishings throughout.
With the warm and cosy Games Room annexe (which my family adored!) and the outdoor seating area and delightful views – for us, with ages ranging from 26-88, it was beyond perfect 💕
Jenny kindly took delivery of my Supermarket order the day prior to our arrival, and even put it all away for us! Way over and above the duties of a host – but so appreciated.
As you can tell, I can’t praise the Barn or Jenny highly enough and following the disappointment of our cancelled Venice trip, it truly was, heaven sent.
We will most definitely be back and I cannot wait!

We had a wonderful stay.
The Barn is beautiful and in a lovely peaceful location. It is very well equipped and very comfortable. The beds were especially comfortable and the peace and quiet heavenly.
We spent a wonderful weekend at The Barn. Everything was perfect: stylish, beautifully equipped and furnished, and the feeling of open plan space invites conviviality without feeling on top of each other. The house is super-clean too.
We loved the ‘upside down living’ arrangement, so you can go down to bed and be undisturbed, and the bedrooms are all so comfortable (huge beds), providing a place to escape to if you want to curl up quietly and read a book. Every bedroom has its own gorgeous bathroom, so no queueing necessary!
Jenny couldn’t have been more helpful, answering our endless questions so cheerfully and helpfully, and unpacking our supermarket delivery that arrived before we did.
The Barn is in a picture perfect setting with beautiful walks around the farm, and is brilliantly located for all the great things about the South Hams. It’s ideal for family groups, parties of friends, or just a treat by yourselves. We cannot recommend it highly enough. Our only regret is that we don’t own it.
